What is social procurement?
Social procurement is when buyers use their purchasing power to generate social benefits, in addition to the goods and services they require. It provides an opportunity to positively transform people’s lives without compromising on the quality of goods or services provided.
Benefits of social procurement can include job and employment opportunities, the addressing of complex local challenges, the promotion of fair and ethical trade, the enhancement of social inclusion, giving vulnerable groups the opportunity to participate in the community and the economy.
