HSR Training through the government funded Rural Support Training Program

Training is being offered in drought declared Regional/Shire Council areas and is fully funded (eligibility criteria apply) for community members in accredited and non-accredited units.

Rural Support Training Program

These courses are fully funded for eligible participants under the Rural Support Training Program. The eligibility has three criteria:

  • age - minimum age 15 years (minimum of 18 years for HSR Training)
  • citizenship – Australian or New Zealand citizen or  Australian Permanent Resident or Temporary Resident on the pathway to permanent residency
  • place of residence or work - must be a Queensland resident and reside or work in a drought declared council area (e.g. Western Downs, Paroo, Toowoomba, Quilpie, Bulloo, Scenic Rim, Rockhampton) or on an independent drought declared property

One of the offered courses is Rural Support Training Program 1 (Health and Safety Representative (HSR) Training) to be delivered in Kingaroy from Monday 25th November to Friday 29th November (Please see attached Flier).

Free apprenticeships for under 21s

The Queensland Government is increasing support for young Queenslanders up to the age of 21 by providing access to fully subsidised training across 139 prioirty apprenticeship or traineeship qualifications.

Free apprenticeships for under 21s will cover the cost of training for apprentices and trainees who commence or are undertaking a priority apprenticeship or traineeship qualification from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2023.

South Burnett Peer Group

South Burnett Peer Support Group have been successful in obtaining funding through the NDIS Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) Readiness Grant round and this was done through an auspice agreement with Graham House Community Centre.

Two of the uses for this funding will be the development and maintenance of a one stop community website containing information specific to our local community.  The other is to provide upskilling, training and development to anyone with a disability, their families and carers to improve their leadership, communication and advocacy skills, and capability.

Taabinga Rotary Bookarama - 7 - 8 September 2019

IT’S ON AGAIN - BOOKARAMA IN THE SOUTH BURNETT

On Saturday, 7 September 2019 & Sunday, 8 September 2019, the Taabinga Rotary Club’s annual “Bookarama” book sale will be held at the Kingaroy Town Hall.

A visit to the annual Bookarama 2019 is ‘a must’ for avid readers.

At the same time, it will allow the Taabinga Rotary Club raise funds for various local community projects.

This year, the funds will go to:

  • Kingaroy Hospital Auxiliary;
  • Royal Flying Doctor Service;
  • CTC Emergency Relief; and
  • Polio eradication.

Stronger Communities Programme Round 5 - Now Open

Strengthening our communities is a key priority of David Littleproud MP because it brings people together and guarantees future generations are involved in our rural and regional areas.

Community groups such as yours contribute so much and make Maranoa a great place to live, work and raise a family. In order to support such contributions across Maranoa, the Federal Government will open Round 5 of the Stronger Communities Programme.

An additional $150,000 in Round 5 of this Programme will be available to support community projects that:

  • bring our communities together
  • strengthen social connections
  • build community participation and
  • create vibrant and viable communities into the future.

Your organisation is invited to express interest for funding through the Stronger Communities Programme. Grants can range from $2,500 to $20,000.

Schools looking to complete community projects are encouraged to apply for funding under the Local Schools Community Fund (LSCF).  For more details regarding LSCF, please contact my Roma Office on (07) 4622 7166.

Expressions of Interest must be received by 5pm (AEST) Friday, September 6th 2019.

Small Business Entrepreneur Grants Program - Now Open!

The Small Business Entrepreneur Grants Program Round 5 is now open for applications and will close 5pm, 30 August 2019.

Matched funding of up to $5,000 (excluding GST) are available to help small businesses engage a consultant, advisor or business coach for up to 3 months and businesses choose their own consultant or advisor to work with.

Business Growth Fund - Now Open!

The Business Growth Fund is now open for applications.

Funding of up to $50,000 (excluding GST) may be provided for eligible business to purchase and implement highly specialised equipment to enable them to move to the next stage of growth.
