$130 million Jobs & Regional Growth
Monday, 27 February 2017 08:14

The fund is part of the Government's plan to create jobs, especially in regional Queensland, and is available to support business and projects that will generate economic development and employment opportunities.

The $130 million Jobs and Regional Growth Fund is part of the government’s broader $200M Jobs and Regional Growth Package, targeted at growing regional economies and jobs for Queenslanders.

The fund will help facilitate private sector projects which create employment and economic growth opportunities in regional areas outside South East Queensland facing significant economic and employment challenges.

Financial assistance ranging from $100,000 to over $10 million is available for proponents to apply directly. Applications will be assessed under an appropriate set of criteria and the type and level of assistance will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Applications will be considered across a broad range of medium to large businesses, for both new projects and expansion of projects in Queensland that maximise benefits for regional employment and economic growth.

How to apply

Applications for financial assistance are invited directly from proponents. For more information on how to apply contact us:

Office of Small Business: Entrepreneur Grants
Monday, 27 February 2017 07:50

Have you heard about our Small Business Entrepreneur Grants Program?

The program is providing matched funds to newly started small businesses so they can access professional planning, coaching and training. Such advice is critical in the early phases of establishing a business. As you know, having the right structure and processes in place from the start can often give a business the platform it needs to survive those first tough five years.

Eligible businesses can apply for matched funding up to $5 000 to engage a consultant, advisor or business coach to assist in their initial planning stages.

The advice must fall under one or more of the following areas:

  • professional business, tax, computing, legal or financial (accounting) advice
  • mentoring/coaching
  • business and strategic planning
  • market research and marketing strategies, including branding strategies and social media/digital strategies.

To be eligible the business must:

  • have a business name registered within the last four years
  • have fewer than 20 employees at the time of applying for the grant
  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and be registered for GST
  • be based in Queensland
  • declare if any owners or directors of the business are an undischarged bankrupt or insolvent.

Applications are now open and full details, including application forms, are available here. If you are aware of small businesses that are eligible for this grant you are welcome to share this with them.

Up to $20K available for small businesses to employ for 'Back to Work'
Sunday, 05 February 2017 17:17

This could provide up to $20,000 to employers (even for apprenticeships). There is a small amount of criteria and I would stress that this is an opportunity for businesses to seriously consider a new employee whether through apprenticeship or full-time/part-time work.

We hope that this helps encourage business operators to hire their apprentice/trainee at the completion of school.

There has been great success with this grant in all small business including farms/producers/factories and retail.
