By June 6, 2021No Comments3 min read

Two upcoming grant opportunities under the Federal Government’s Safer Communities Fund Round 6.

Eligible organisations in Maranoa are encouraged to apply for funding under this program to help ensure people in our local community feel safe as they go about their daily lives.

Round six provides up to $30 million across two types of grant opportunities:

  • Up to $20 million is available for Early Intervention grants of between $200,000 and $1.5 million.
  • Up to $10 million is available for Infrastructure grants of between $10,000 and $500,000.

EARLY INTERVENTION GRANTS – Applications opened 28 May 2021 and close on 22 July 2021

Early Intervention grants are available to organisations that engage in early intervention activities with at risk young people to prevent them from engaging in criminal activity or anti-social behaviour.

Grants between $200,000 and $1.5 million are available for eligible organisations experienced in providing early intervention activities to youth at high risk.

Eligible activities include:

    • services to youths who are, or are at high risk of, becoming involved with the criminal justice system
    • programs that increase the levels of engagement that youth at high risk have with their local communities, by building resilience, cultural connections and job readiness skills.

Joint applications are acceptable, provided you have a lead applicant who is the legal entity responsible for the project and is eligible to apply.

Projects will have up to 30 April 2024 to be completed. Applications close on 22 July 2021.

Further information about early intervention grants, including how to apply and eligibility criteria, is available at https://www.business.gov.au/SCF-Early-Intervention.

INFRASTRUCTURE GRANTS – Open 15 June 2021 and close on 5 August 2021

Infrastructure grants are available to community organisations, places of worship, schools and pre-schools, and local councils to help implement and boost crime prevention and security initiatives such as CCTV, lighting and bollards.

The grant opportunity aims to ensure these organisations are able to reduce the risk of crime, violence, and anti-social behaviour driven by racial and/or religious intolerance by funding crime prevention initiatives.

Applications will be assessed on a competitive basis in accordance with the eligibility and merit criteria in the Grant Opportunity Guidelines – Safer Communities Fund Round Six: Infrastructure grants.

Further information about infrastructure grants, including how to apply and eligibility criteria, will be available via business.gov.au once the program opens.
