With the confirmation of a coronavirus case in Kingaroy, I want to encourage our community to stay calm and to follow the advice of the health authorities, particularly when it comes to practicing good hygiene, and seek medical advice if you have any symptoms.

I know many people are anxious about this, but please be assured the Federal Government is making decisions based on the best possible medical advice.

It is also important to note that our Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, along with members of COAG (the Council of Australian Governments) have advised that by Monday 16th March, the Federal Government will be advising against organised, non-essential gatherings of persons of 500 people or greater. This does not apply to attendance at work, childcare, schools, university lectures, public transport etc. They have also asked Australians to reconsider the need to travel overseas at this time, regardless of destination, age or health.

It is important to keep up-to-date with the latest information being provided, which can be found at www.health.gov.au.
