Kingaroy Aerodrome Masterplan

South Burnett Regional Council is seeking your input to help shape the long-term future of Kingaroy Aerodrome.

A planned aerodrome is vital not only for serving the community today, but for supporting future economic growth particularly as new and emerging businesses look for efficient ways to move people and products.

The Kingaroy Aerodrome Masterplan sets out a vision to guide this growth, addressing both on-aerodrome needs such as safe operations, future expansion, sustainability and compliance, and off-aerodrome planning including how the aerodrome can co-exist with surrounding land uses.

This important document will guide how the airport develops over time, helping Council plan infrastructure and land use while attracting investment and opportunities.

Your feedback will play a key role in ensuring the Masterplan reflects community priorities and aspirations.

Nominations are now open for the 2026 Queensland Training Awards – celebrating excellence in training and the power of skills to change lives.

Across 13 award categories, the awards recognise the outstanding achievements of apprentices, trainees, students, teachers and trainers, training providers, community-based organisations and employers. 

Skilling Queenslanders for Work projects may be eligible to nominate in the Community Training Initiative of the Year category, and participants in Equity Student of the Year or Trainee of the Year.

 Nominations are now open and close 22 March 2026.

Red Earth Community Foundation Welcomes New Development Coordinator and
Opens Applications for 2026 Leadership Program

The Red Earth Community Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of Tansey based
Angela Doering as its Development Coordinator. Angela brings a wealth of experience and passion
for community development, and her leadership marks an exciting new chapter for Red Earth.
Coinciding with this appointment, Red Earth is also opening applications for their annual Red Earth
Community Leadership Program (RECLP)—a transformative initiative designed to empower
emerging and established leaders help shape future ready communities across the Burnett Inland
region..

Since its inception in 2014, the RECLP has supported over 240 local leaders in developing the skills,
confidence, and connections needed to drive positive change in their communities. The 2026
program promises another enriching experience, with two immersive sessions in the beautiful
Bunya Mountains on 15–17 February and 15–17 March 2026.

“It’s an honour to join Red Earth Community Foundation at such a pivotal time” Ms Doering said this
week .
“Investing in people – Red Earth’s mission – is also core to how I work, and I am delighted to be
given the opportunity to lead the growth of our community foundation.

“The RECLP is more than a leadership course—it’s a journey of growth, connection, and impact. I
have benefitted from leadership programs, and encourage anyone with a passion for community to
apply or nominate someone who would thrive in this environment.”

The Queensland Government has announced free cyber security training for small businesses to reduce the financial risk of cybercrime and increase cyber security resilience. If you are a small business owner in Queensland, you and your staff can access a suite of free cyber security courses, webinars, guides and resources through the Cyber Wardens program.

In 2024, the financial cost of cybercrime to small businesses rose by 8% from 2023, to an average of $49,600. Research shows 4 out of 5 small businesses in Australia having experienced a cyber incident in the last year.

In addition to financial losses, cyber-attacks can also cause:

• brand and reputational damage
• loss of confidential and sensitive data
• loss of business continuity
• fines if your business is found negligent.

By enrolling you and your team into regular cyber security training, you can protect your business against the ongoing threats from cyber criminals.

The competition was higher quality than previous years and we congratulate all of the businesses that entered. Also, would like to thank other businesses that did not enter the competition but have pig up their businesses for the BaconFest event on August 15 & 16th. The locals & tourists will be impressed with Kingaroy & the South Burnett.

The judges trotted around last week to view all displays and had a hard time pigging out the best.

But in the end Bacon Airport at St John’s Lutheran School were the winners!

And 2nd was Troy Cassar-Bacon & the Five Rashers at Studio J.

KCCI would like to thank everyone for your smiles, enthusiasm & the time and effort that was put into their displays and the judges. Keep on piggin’.

This year’s theme is “Bacon Country” as Troy Cassar-Daley will be the headline act.

Wonder if there will be any golden guitars in the pig pens?

Judging will be Monday 28^th July and entry is free.
