CCIQ COVID-19 Update – A Call for Support

By April 15, 2021No Comments2 min read

Greater Brisbane is in the midst of lockdown, with an announcement on the future status of the restrictions to take place tomorrow morning.

As we all navigate this current lockdown and its impact on businesses across QLD, all of us at CCIQ are working hard on our members behalf doing what we do best – advocating for Queensland businesses.

We have called on the State Government to implement a proposed COVID-19 Hotspot Recovery Package to provide grants and funding to businesses directly affected within the hotspot area.

Without the safety net of JobKeeper and state stimulus support, what is needed now is a State Government relief package for businesses, especially those of you who are forced to close or have had your business activities impacted within the hotspot area.

We recognise that targeted support for businesses to cover your losses is needed to see your business through a period of restricted business activity, along with clear communication and a standard framework around hotspot lockdowns, travel restrictions and business closures.

Uncertainty is being felt across the state, compounded by lost bookings and trading opportunities ahead of the Easter holiday period.

While we continue to push for support for business, we have prepared information on what the Greater Brisbane lockdown means for your business here.

CCIQ also has a range of free resources available to your business including policy templates, webinars, working from home help and more.

Any Queensland business with questions or needing assistance in navigating their obligations due to the current restrictions can call CCIQ’s Employer Assistance Hotline on 1300 731 988.

For essential businesses who will continue operating, it is vital to have your COVIDSafe plans in place, you can find out more here.
