Today, the Prime Minister confirmed that JobKeeper will continue on in its current form as initially planned until 27 September.  Beyond September, the scheme will continue, with some modifications, until March 2021.

After this date and up to the end of December 2020, JobKeeper 2.0 will operate with a 2 tier payment system:

  • $1200 per fortnight for those employees who averaged in February 2020 more than 20 hours per week
  • $750 per fortnight for employees who averaged less than 20 hours per week.

In the March quarter (from end of December), these payments will become:

  • $1000 per fortnight
  • $650 per fortnight for employees who averaged less than 20 hours per week.

To be eligible for the extended scheme, business will need to meet eligibility criteria, which includes still experiencing a thirty per cent down turn in turnover due to COVID-19.

Full details on the revised scheme will soon be available at https://www.ato.gov.au/General/JobKeeper-Payment/

As we all continue getting back to business, we recognise that even though our state is COVID-free right now, that could change at any time. We are asking the Palaszczuk Government for transparency about what their plans would entail if a COVID outbreak occur here. Reverting to blanket bans and restrictions is not viable or sustainable.
