SUMMARY:SBRC Local Community Support Sector Forum
DESCRIPTION:This is SBRC second Local Community Support Sector (LCSS) Forum. This forum will be held biannually (April and September). \nPlease see attached fact sheet which outlines “Emergency Volunteering in the South Burnett”. \n  \nCouncil were very overwhelmed and appreciated the support that was provided to the community and community groups through volunteering off the back of December 2024 January 2025 rain events that affected our region. \nDuring the last year\, we have engaged Volunteering Queensland to assist with emergency volunteering that is required off the back of an event.  Therefore\, we are encouraging community members and agencies who want to volunteer after an emergency to register with the Volunteering Queensland “Emergency Volunteering Crew” to ensure a smooth transition and request campaign can be delivered. \nThe LCSS biannual forums will provide a platform for networking\, information sharing and access to guest speakers for the volunteering sector. These events represent an opportunity for volunteer coordinators\, leaders or anyone engaging volunteers to connect and learn from each other. \nThis  forum is open to everyone who has previously shown a strong interest in volunteering\, but also is open to the wide community. \nWe will have guest speakers from: \n\nVolunteering Queensland\nState Emergency Services\nRural Fire Service Queensland\nLocal Disaster Management Group\nLocal Disaster Recovery Group\n\n  \nEvent details below: \nDate:                 Wednesday 2 September 2026 \nTime:                 10.30 am to 12.00 noon \nLocation:         Kingaroy Town Hall\, Glendon Street\, Kingaroy \n  \nIf you have any questions\, please do not hesitate to contact myself michelle.newson@sbrc.qld.gov.au or Donna Brown via e-mail donna.brown@sbrc.qld.gov.au \nWe look forward to seeing you all there. \nSee our fact sheet below: \nEmergency Volunteering in the South Burnett \n
