DESCRIPTION:May is Domestic and Family Violence awareness month. \nOn the 19th of May we will be holding our second annual Domestic and Family Violence dinner to recognise services\, business and individuals who contribute to the important work done in this field. \nWe would like to acknowledge that alongside specialist services the importance and value local business have in supporting people who have experienced domestic and family violence. \nDinner will include speakers from the Alison Bayden-Clay foundation\, DV Safe Phone\, Friends with Dignity and QRL. \nPlease see below information regarding the dinner in the hope this can be shared within the business community to help promote domestic and family violence awareness and how we can all make a difference. \nTickets can be purchased from CTC Youth and Family Services at Murgon and Kingaroy or email angief@sbctc.com.au \n19 May 2022\n6:00pm \nTicket price $40\nIncludes 2 course meal. SUMMARY:MS Brissie to the Bay Bike Ride
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday 12th June\, my brother-in-law Darrin Kefford (Kingaroy Joinery)  and myself\, Jason Ford (Kingaroy TAFE)\, are riding 100km in the MS Brissie To The Bay Bike Ride\, to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The ride will take us from Musgrave Park to Wellington Point and Cleveland. \nWe participated for the first time last year\, but only rode in the shorter 50km as we had never ridden such a long distance. So this year we decided to go all out\, push our limits and ride the whole 100km. \nWe also decided to use the ride as an opportunity to help fight MS\, by fundraising. We have known quite a few people both professionally and personally who suffer from MS\, including family members. \nMS is one of the most common diseases of the central nervous system. It may affect the brain\, spinal cord and optic nerve and impacts more young people in Australia than any other chronic neurological disease. The term multiple sclerosis means ‘many scars’ and depending on where those scars (lesions) develop\, they result in various symptoms. \nBetween both our fundraising pages we have already raised over $1000 for MS. \nIf anyone is interested in supporting either of us\, donations can be made to our individual online fundraising pages: \nhttps://www.brissietothebay.com.au/fundraisers/jasonford \nand \nhttps://www.brissietothebay.com.au/fundraisers/darrinkefford \n
