SUMMARY:BaconFest
DESCRIPTION:The idea for a BaconFest came to our first Chief Baconeer Kathryn Stevens one night while doing the washing up. This light bulb moment was discussed at length over coffee and wine and slowly but surely began to gain some momentum.  Before long\, an impressive team of enthusiastic and bacon-loving volunteers had signed up for the cause and committed themselves to delivering a weekend-long celebration of the pig. These creative individuals are passionate about the South Burnett region and committed to using their professional skills and talents to give back to the community by delivering a truly delicious event. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nFind out more on our website! \nKingaroy BaconFest HOME \n \nBuy Tickets

SUMMARY:Dungeons & Dragons Come and Try Day
DESCRIPTION:Exciting news – CTC Youth Crew has partnered up with Gamez Knight in Kingaroy to host a Dungeons & Dragons Come and Try Day for young people aged 12-24 who would like to learn more about the DnD universe and how the game is played. \n\nWhat is DnD? \nDungeons & Dragons takes you and your friends on epic journeys. Become characters you create\, battle deadly foes\, uncover secrets\, find treasure\, and make memories that last a lifetime. Are you looking to spark your imagination while having fun with friends? Dungeons & Dragons is a collaborative roleplaying game for players of all ages. Gather your friends to vanquish mighty monsters\, embark on epic quests\, and tell legendary stories filled with fantasy and fun! \n\nWhy should young people play? \nDnD allows young people to make friends and think creatively in a supportive environment. Gamez Knight is a safe space for young people to meet likeminded people in the community who enjoy playing games in a social atmosphere. This DnD session will be led by experienced Dungeon Masters (game organisers and participants in charge of creating the details and challenges of a given adventure\, while maintaining a realistic continuity of events) who will help explain the rules and teach newcomers the ropes. DnD is a great imaginative outlet and fantastic way for young people to meet new people. \nWe will be providing each participant with their own set of DnD dice to keep as well as lunch and transport\, if required. To register a young person\, simply reply to this email or call me on 0429 190 713 if you have any questions.

SUMMARY:EOI – Suicide Prevention Capacity Building Program
DESCRIPTION:Black Dog Institute is delivering a Suicide Prevention Capacity Building Program in the Kingaroy region between February and May 2023. \nFunded by the Department of Health\, the program consists of 6 evidence-based workshops\, which will be guided by the area’s needs and current approaches to suicide prevention. \nThe intent of this program is to strengthen collaboration\, co-ordination\, and visibility of these activities. From this\, we aim to support the establishment of a community collaborative to implement local suicide prevention activities. \nWe understand there is a suicide prevention network in the region currently and we encouraged people part of this group to apply. Additionally\, we know there are many people who are working hard to reduce the rates of suicide and we are wanting to engage representatives from across the region including the Local Health Network\, service providers\, health professionals\, school counsellors\, clinicians\, local businesses\, volunteer action groups\, first nations people\, first responders\, community members and welcome individuals with a lived experience. \nParticipation in the program is free\, and we ask that you commit to attending all 4 of the 2–3-hour workshops. Workshop dates: 16/2\, 16/3\, 20/4\, 18/5. If you are unavailable at these times\, don’t worry as this does not preclude you from joining the broader collaborative once the program is completed. \nSpaces are limited so please email your expression of interest to kirsten@sbctc.com.au by close of business 13/1/2023. \nDownload flyer.
