SUMMARY:EOI – Suicide Prevention Capacity Building Program
DESCRIPTION:Black Dog Institute is delivering a Suicide Prevention Capacity Building Program in the Kingaroy region between February and May 2023. \nFunded by the Department of Health\, the program consists of 6 evidence-based workshops\, which will be guided by the area’s needs and current approaches to suicide prevention. \nThe intent of this program is to strengthen collaboration\, co-ordination\, and visibility of these activities. From this\, we aim to support the establishment of a community collaborative to implement local suicide prevention activities. \nWe understand there is a suicide prevention network in the region currently and we encouraged people part of this group to apply. Additionally\, we know there are many people who are working hard to reduce the rates of suicide and we are wanting to engage representatives from across the region including the Local Health Network\, service providers\, health professionals\, school counsellors\, clinicians\, local businesses\, volunteer action groups\, first nations people\, first responders\, community members and welcome individuals with a lived experience. \nParticipation in the program is free\, and we ask that you commit to attending all 4 of the 2–3-hour workshops. Workshop dates: 16/2\, 16/3\, 20/4\, 18/5. If you are unavailable at these times\, don’t worry as this does not preclude you from joining the broader collaborative once the program is completed. \nSpaces are limited so please email your expression of interest to kirsten@sbctc.com.au by close of business 13/1/2023. \nDownload flyer.

SUMMARY:CTC Youth Crew November Calendar
DESCRIPTION:CTC Safer Communities Program/CTC Youth Crew’s November Calendar is here. Please note a few changes and some exciting new activities on offer. \nNEW NAME:\nWe are rebranding ourselves as CTC Youth Crew in an effort to try and entice a few older participants to get involved. We received feedback from some young people who told us that “Safer Communities Program” sounded like a neighbourhood watch group\, so we’ve tried to youth-ify ourselves a bit more with a fresher\, hipper name. Please refer to us as this when telling clients about our program and upcoming events. \nNEW ACTIVITIES:\nThis month we have a couple of new things happening including a Dress For the Job Interview Session on Tuesday\, November 9 where we will be taking the Get Set For Work young people and any other young people who want to attend to the op shops to get suited up with appropriate clothing for new jobs and jobs interviews before we hold mock interviews with them in the Get Set For Work room at CTC Youth and Family Services\, Kingaroy. \nWe are also trying something different with a Special Effects Makeup Class on Tuesday\, November 22 where the participants will be learning how to apply realistic cuts\, bullet holes\, grazes and bruises with an industry professional. \nWe will also be hosting the Kingaroy\, Wondai and Cherbourg Youth Crew Arvos once a week now with more of an emphasis on a specific activity each afternoon. Any suggestions for things we can make\, learn\, create together would be appreciated. \nPlease note the next BYTE Night at the Murgon Pool is taking place on Saturday\, November 19 from 4-7pm. \nWe are also very keen to get as many teens and parents to our upcoming ThinkUKnow Cyber Safety session on Wednesday\, November 23 from 5.30-7pm as possible. There will be some really vital information for everyone who is worried about their young people online to hear as well as some practical information and technology they can put in place now to limit some of the present dangers. \nLastly\, we will be co-hosting a fun movie night at yourtown on Thursday\, November 24 for young people to come\, chill out with friends\, enjoy some popcorn\, pizzas and ice cream and enjoy a (relatively) recent movie so if you have suggestions for a good movie for 12-24-year-olds please let me know. \nPlease let me know if you’d like me to send you any of our event posters. I’ve attached the ThinkUKnow parents’ session poster along with the November calendar. \nPLEASE BOOK TO ATTEND BY CALLING 4162 7788 or EMAILING courtneyl@sbctc.com.au \nTransport to and from activities MAY be able to be provided\, if organised in advance.

SUMMARY:Queensland Heritage Rally
DESCRIPTION:The Kingaroy & District Vintage Machinery Club Inc would like to advise you all that we will be hosting the Queensland Heritage Rally in September 2022\, commencing on the 15th (set up day) through to the 18th. \nThe Queensland Heritage Rally is hosted by a nominated club in Queensland every two years & we have the honour of hosting the event next year\, 2022. This will be a great boost to Kingaroy & District as there will be exhibitors & spectators from all over Australia & New Zealand. We have been told to expect 6-10\,000 people to come to our town for this Rally. \n  \nWe invite you all to add these dates to your diary for 2022 so you can organize your life to be able to attend. \nWe will be sending out information in the near future regarding registration\, events\, meals available\, etc & accommodation (available in & around the surrounding areas close to Kingaroy for non- exhibitors).  We will have camp sites for exhibitors at our club grounds. \nWe do have a shut down for Tarong Power Station during the month of September 2022 who will have their workers being accommodated in some of the motels in the area\, so it maybe in your interest if you need this type of accommodation to make enquiries early. \nDon’t forget we are also holding our yearly Club Rally on the 17th (Setup Day)\, 18th & 19th September 2021. We hope to see some of you attending this rally too.

SUMMARY:QCWA Centenary Gala Dinner Dance
DESCRIPTION:The Kingaroy Branch of QCWA is itself celebrating its Centenary in August\, 2022.  \nIt was one of the first branches formed in Queensland\, and can be proud of its community service by a continuous membership for 100 years. This incredible milestone will be celebrated on Saturday\, August 27 with a Gala Dinner Dance at the Kingaroy Town Hall\, 6pm for 7pm start. \nWe are extending an invitation to you\, your family and friends and your staff or members\, to support us by joining your local QCWA members in recognising the foresight of the women of Kingaroy and celebrating the longevity of this worthy community organisation. Your support of this function will ensure that the ongoing work of the QCWA locally\, will continue into the future.  \nThere will be grazing platters on arrival followed by a two course meal. Guests can then dance the night away to  the popular Kingaroy band\, RYZA.  Rotary will operate a full bar. \n  \nPurchase tickets\nTickets are available now at Kingaroy Office Central at $80 per guest. Everyone is welcome. Should you wish to form a table\, these will seat eight guests. Any enquiries can be directed to Marilyn at the email address below. The Dinner Dance is a ticketed event and RSVP should be before 10 August\, 2022. \nThe last few years of  COVID isolation curtailed our usual fund raising events and more recently the “Hostel\,” which is owned by Kingaroy QCWA\, was destroyed by fire.   This facility was leased by CTC to safely house young people at risk in this community. So\, we look forward to this event being a positive function in our calendar.
