SUMMARY:Kingaroy BaconFest 2022
DESCRIPTION:Get in before they sell out. \nThe Kingaroy BaconFest Committee is squealing with excitement to announce tickets for BaconFest 2022 will go on sale at 1pm\, Monday 23rd May 2022. \nThe annual event had been cancelled in previous years due to COVID restrictions but is due to be held this year from August 19-21. \nHeld in the outdoors and spacious country facilities\, Chief Baconeer\, Kristy Board\, said there would be something for everyone at Australia’s premier Bacon Festival in the regional town of Kingaroy. \n“Whether you’re looking to sip and swig at the Wine and Swine dinner party\, be a Rasher and walk\, run or ride the South Burnett Rail Trail in the Rasher’s Rush or celebrate food provenance with the more relaxed vibe of the intimate Long Table Breakfast; it’s sure to be a ‘pig’ weekend full of bacon\, rashers\, swine\, BBQ\, cheek\, music\, local food\, more bacon and even more bacon\,” Ms Board said. \nIn order to cover the extra costs that come with running a safe and sustainable event\, punters will also\, for the first time\, need to purchase a ticket to be able to enter the festival precinct. \nThese tickets should be purchased online and will range in cost from $6\, for a one-day general admission ticket\, to a $25 two-day family pass. \n“Given the challenges experienced by our Arts industry over the past few years\, we cross our bacon hearts that we will do everything to keep our patrons safe and able to attend this year’s Kingaroy Baconfest\,” Ms Board said. \n“Charging a small entry fee will help ensure that BaconFest can continue putting greasy smiles on happy faces for many years to come\,” Ms Board said. \nA general admission ticket will include access to the BaconFest Food Market\, the Beer & Wine Garden\, SunPork’s Swig and Swine Deck\, the SunPork Smoke-Off BBQ Competition area\, the Little Piggies Area for Under 12s and the South Burnett Flavours local produce market. \nAdmission will also include cooking demonstrations by chefs including The Living Room’s Miguel Maestre\, fresh\, seasonal and local ingredient passionate Matt Golinski and former My Kitchen Rules winners Dan and Steph from ‘Travel and Eat with Dan and Steph.’ It will also include the bacon eating competition\, BaconFest Pin-Up Pageant\, Beard of BaconFest and Jnr Baconeer competition and plenty of live music on the main stage to keep your trotters tapping. \nThe BaconFest festival precinct will be open from 10am – 11pm on Saturday 20th August and from 10am – 3pm on Sunday 21st August. \nTo purchase your tickets and find out more information about individual events visit www.kingaroybaconfest.com.au \nKingaroy BaconFest is supported by SunPork Fresh Foods and funded by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal in partnership with the Australian Government. The event is also supported by the Queensland Government through its Tourism and Events Queensland and features on the It’s Live! In Queensland events calendar. Other major sponsors are South Burnett Regional Council\, TAFE Queensland South West\, Australian Pork Limited and Ergon Energy Energex.

Visiting performers include Norah Malan and Alyssa Maughan. \nGuests\, will be able to choose where they sit to enjoy the music as performances ease through the afternoon and into the evening. As the sun sets\, warm and inviting fire pits will be lit around the arena\, so that our audience can feel snug and warm. There is also the opportunity to set up camp or park your self contained motorhome and enjoy a weekend of farm stay activities\, including petting animals and having a try at milking a cow. There will be delicious food and drinks available for purchase\, the proceeds of which will go towards the SES and to assist with medical bills from one of the farm’s owners. There just seemed to be too many restrictions and limitations\, for events like this\, so I decided to create my own. My ultimate goal is to be able to pay all artists and industry professionals\, the award rate. We have been underappreciated for too long”. \nIf you would like to help this or future events\, through funding or sponsorship\, please contact Louise Winton\, directly. \nUpdates and information about the concert\, ticketing and camping can all be found on the event’s Facebook page or by phoning Louise on 0427748692

SUMMARY:MS Brissie to the Bay Bike Ride
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday 12th June\, my brother-in-law Darrin Kefford (Kingaroy Joinery)  and myself\, Jason Ford (Kingaroy TAFE)\, are riding 100km in the MS Brissie To The Bay Bike Ride\, to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The ride will take us from Musgrave Park to Wellington Point and Cleveland. \nWe participated for the first time last year\, but only rode in the shorter 50km as we had never ridden such a long distance. So this year we decided to go all out\, push our limits and ride the whole 100km. \nWe also decided to use the ride as an opportunity to help fight MS\, by fundraising. We have known quite a few people both professionally and personally who suffer from MS\, including family members. \nMS is one of the most common diseases of the central nervous system. It may affect the brain\, spinal cord and optic nerve and impacts more young people in Australia than any other chronic neurological disease. The term multiple sclerosis means ‘many scars’ and depending on where those scars (lesions) develop\, they result in various symptoms. \nBetween both our fundraising pages we have already raised over $1000 for MS. \nIf anyone is interested in supporting either of us\, donations can be made to our individual online fundraising pages: \nhttps://www.brissietothebay.com.au/fundraisers/jasonford \nand \nhttps://www.brissietothebay.com.au/fundraisers/darrinkefford \n
