SUMMARY:South Burnett Ag Network: Reef Protection Regulations
DESCRIPTION:Reef regulations info sessions planned for North and South Burnett \nBIEDO is hosting the Office of the Great Barrier Reef (OGBR) as they conduct consultation sessions across the Burnett Inland regarding Reef protection regulations\, which are being strengthened to address land-based sources of water pollution flowing to the Great Barrier Reef. \nThe consultation sessions will be small round table meetings with local industry and grower representatives. \nThe OGBR team will provide an overview of the draft standard conditions and general information regarding the application process for an environmental authority\, including the proposed information requirements for a site-specific application. \nBIEDO will host two of these events: \n\nSouth Burnett – Kingaroy Town Hall\, Tuesday 9 Feb @ 6:30pm\nNorth Burnett – Monto Town Hall\, Thursday 11 Feb @ 6:30pm\n\nOGBR will also provide the option to participate via teleconference and video conference. \nWritten submissions on the proposed standard are due by Wednesday\, 17 February 2021. More information is available at www.qld.gov.au/ReefRegulations \nAll rural landholders\, irrespective of industry\, are encouraged to attend to hear what these standards mean for them. \nPlease register your attendance to assist with catering and COVID-19 restrictions @ www.biedo.org.au/events \n  \nDuring 2020\, the LNP Opposition fought against the implementation of Reef Regulations that will affect every landholder in in a Reef Catchment area. For those in the Nanango Electorate\, this means landholders in the South Burnett and Gympie Regional Council areas. \nIf you are a landholder in these areas\, I would encourage you to attend a special meeting of the South Burnett Ag Network: \nTuesday 9th February in Kingaroy (click here for details) \nInformation about the Reef Regulations will be shared. The Labor Government will close submissions on the draft ‘Standard Conditions’ for cropping and horticultural activities on 17th February. \nThese regulations will have a major impact on farming operations in our region. The role of the government should be to work alongside farmers and communities towards environmental outcomes\, instead of ramming unworkable laws down their throats. I urge you to consider making a submission letting the Government know how this will impact your business. \nDeb Frecklington

SUMMARY:The Burnett's first dedicated sole-trader Christmas Party!
DESCRIPTION:As you know\, being a sole-trader has some great perks; flexibility\, no reporting line and the choice (well sometimes) to take a long lunch. However\, it also has some challenges\, no-one to high-five to celebrate a success\, few collaboration opportunities\, less opportunity for leadership learning\, no accidental catch-ups and the higher likelihood of overworking a regular work week. That’s certainly how I have felt every Christmas since my time in Council or the RSL. \nSo\, with that being said\, and in a small effort to shine some light\, we have put together a Sole-Trader Christmas Party\, I’m wondering if you might be able to support us in our first event. Neither make any profit from this\, and aren’t seeking for superstardom – it’s cost neutral\, based around some fun\, networking and connection for those who don’t have work colleagues around them. \nWhen: Tuesday 1 December 2020\, 5:45pm – 9pm\nLocation: Kingsley Grove Estate\nTickets: $76.16 \nFind out more and book your ticket. \nOr find the event on Facebook.

SUMMARY:National Agriculture Day
DESCRIPTION:A celebration of Agriculture and related industries. \nNational Agriculture & Related Industries Day\, a national day founded to celebrate Australia’s world-class agricultural industry and those who work in it. \nSaturday\, 21st November\nGates open 6:30pm \nPart proceeds for Rural Aid\, sponsored by Hancock Agriculture and S. Kidman & Co. \nFind out more and register here. \nSpecial guests:  \nDean Perrett \nFor an authentic traditional Australian country sound\, look no further than Bush Ballad Singer / Songwriter\, Dean Perrett. \nThere is an old saying “write and sing about what you know”\, and having been raised and still working on the family cattle property “Bowenfels”\, a soul of pure country is a natural thing. \nDean’s credibility as a writer of Australian Bush Songs goes unquestioned. When not making music\, he is in the saddle on his family’s Queensland cattle property. Just like Dean\, the songs he writes and sings\, are very authentic and genuine. This is why the great Australian music genre\, the Bush Ballad\, is so important to him.\nOver the last 30 years\, Dean has gained his place as one of Australia’s favourite Bush Balladeers and leading traditional Country Artists. \nDean has performed at major festivals around Australia as well as touring with his own show to many locations nationwide. \nHis music is traditional yet fresh and modern. With a sound that is uniquely his own brand\, Dean is set to make great Australian Country Music well into the future. \n  \nMick Lindsay \nQueensland country music star Mick Lindsay offered the world a cheekier side of himself with his casual and charming new track ‘By the Way’. The second single for 2020 from the Aussie talent made a splash on August 21. \n‘By the Way’ centres on all of the little quirks about someone that make you fall in love with them. A smooth and well balanced blend of country and pop\, “When you have that connection with someone and all the little things they do\, it makes you fall even harder\, that’s what it’s all about” said Mick. Recorded at Sound Stage Studios Nashville during a writing trip to the U.S late last year\, Co-written with the award winning Phil Barton\, Seth Ennis & Emily Shackelton\, This combo of playful lyrics and catchy melody is bound to get stuck in your head and leave you craving more of what Lindsay has delivered on this little number. \nThe first 3 chart topping singles ‘Drink About You’\, ‘If You’re Sleeping’ & ‘Afterparty’ off the soon to be album\, exploded across the country placing Mick in a top position\, seeing him clock up a whopping 4 million streams\, added to over 450 stations across the country and rightfully placed him with the most added song to country radio.
