For the second year in a row, the team at South Burnett Child Safety have taken out the BaconFest decorated window competition.

Their office, in Haly Street, features flying pigs, pig cutouts, bacon-based affirmations and lots and lots of pink. There’s even pig trotters leading up to the front door.

The winners of the competition were announced on Tuesday night at the Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (KCCI) August meet’n’greet.

The KCCI-sponsored competition attracted 20 entries from across the Kingaroy CBD.

President Damien Martoo said Child Safety won a $250 BaconFest merchandise pack plus tickets to BaconFest’s headline Wine & Swine event.

The judges could not split the second placegetters, so it was declared a tie between Kingaroy Floorworld, in Haly Street, and South Burnett Hearing, in Kingaroy Street.

Each will receive a $150 merchandise pack and tickets into the festival grounds.

The meet’n’greet also featured an official “switch on” of the BaconFest lights around town.

South Burnett Regional Council is getting behind BaconFest by switching all the feature lights in the CBD (ie. the footpath bulbs and the “town towers”) to pink.

Endeavour Kitchen also “hogged” the limelight.

It provided a taste test for its Spicy Bacon Sauce, which will be a secret ingredient in BaconFest’s new Baconator Burger.

The meet’n’greet was hosted by Push Pull Marketing PR & Events – part of the BaconFest team – in the Hector Munro Lane, off Kingaroy Street, which runs beside their business.

The raffle on the night was a $500 advertising package offered by Push Pull Marketing’s Sheena Lindholm.

The lucky winner was Shaun Heirdsfield, from Field Design, a new website design business which has just opened in Kingaroy.
