For many of us, the real challenge of setting and achieving new goals or making and implementing changes is being able to maintain motivation.
Motivation in your business is just like motivation in your personal life, it ebbs and flows. Energy levels and psychological factors all impact motivation. The key though, is to understand motivation.

Five facts about motivation from the.pocket.psychologist:
- Motivation follows action, not the other way around.
- Discipline beats motivation every time.
- Small wins create big momentum.
- You won’t always feel like it but do it anyway.
- It’s ‘progress’, not ‘perfection’, that keeps motivation alive.
Throughout each day there are simple strategies you can employ, which can help maintain your motivation. Here are my five top tips:
- Break up your day into focus and off times: This could be as simple as setting a timer to focus for 25 minutes and then step away from the task for 5 minutes.
- Clear the distractions: Where possible, put phones and devices on silent or out of sight.
- Protect your peak hours: Observe when you are most productive and guard these golden hours to make the most of this time to complete important tasks.
- Shrink the task: Break big tasks into smaller more manageable chunks.
- Take movement breaks: Just 2 minutes of stretching can clear brain fog and improve focus.
