SBRC Local Community Support Sector Forum

This is SBRC second Local Community Support Sector (LCSS) Forum. This forum will be held biannually (April and September).
Please see attached fact sheet which outlines “Emergency Volunteering in the South Burnett”.
Council were very overwhelmed and appreciated the support that was provided to the community and community groups through volunteering off the back of December 2024 January 2025 rain events that affected our region.
During the last year, we have engaged Volunteering Queensland to assist with emergency volunteering that is required off the back of an event. Therefore, we are encouraging community members and agencies who want to volunteer after an emergency to register with the Volunteering Queensland “Emergency Volunteering Crew” to ensure a smooth transition and request campaign can be delivered.
The LCSS biannual forums will provide a platform for networking, information sharing and access to guest speakers for the volunteering sector. These events represent an opportunity for volunteer coordinators, leaders or anyone engaging volunteers to connect and learn from each other.
This forum is open to everyone who has previously shown a strong interest in volunteering, but also is open to the wide community.
We will have guest speakers from:
- Volunteering Queensland
- State Emergency Services
- Rural Fire Service Queensland
- Local Disaster Management Group
- Local Disaster Recovery Group
Event details below:
Date: Wednesday 2 September 2026
Time: 10.30 am to 12.00 noon
