D’Aguilar Highway, Kingaroy – project notification and detour information

By July 31, 2023No Comments2 min read

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will commence works to construct a new roundabout at the D’Aguilar Highway, Walter Road, Somerset Street and Knight Street intersection in late July 2023.

These works are part of the D’Aguilar Highway Kingaroy safety upgrades that commenced in March 2023. Works completed to date include improving safety and efficiency by widening the D’Aguilar Highway at Harris Road, Evelyn Street and Prince Street, allowingthrough traffic to safely pass vehicles turning into these side streets.

To complete the roundabout as safely and efficiently as possible, it will be necessary to close access to the intersection on the D’Aguilar Highway. Motorists will be required to detour via River Road and Kingaroy Street, and detour signs will be in place to assist motorists.

Local residents and emergency services can still access properties on Duke and Knight streets, following local detours and traffic control signage.  The road detours are programmed to be put in place from 25 July 2023 and remain in place until late 2023, weather permitting.

There will be an additional requirement to close the intersection of Walter Road and Duke Street for a two week period, and TMR’s contractor will advise residents of this prior to the closure. During this time, local residents will be required to detour via Hodge and Earl streets. Signage will be in place at this time indicating this change of detour.

Please find attached an information flyer with more details about the project and detours. This information will be distributed to other project stakeholders, including nearby residents, in advance of the detour being put in place.

Motorists are urged to allow an extra five minutes for travel and are encouraged to visit www.QLDTraffic or download the QldTraffic App prior to travel, to obtain up-to-date information about the detours and other traffic disruptions

TMR wishes to thank the local community for its patience and support while this important safety upgrade is undertaken.
