More essential infrastructure. More homes.

Before a home can be built, the right foundations need to be laid.

The Queensland Government’s $2 billion Residential Activation Fund is helping remove barriers that can delay housing development, delivering more places for Queenslanders to call home.

Round 1 of the Residential Activation Fund has supported 98 projects across Queensland. We are already seeing ground being broken and work commencing in places like Charleville, Maroochydore, Fernvale South, Logan and Rockhampton!

Even better – at least half of the total fund will support projects in regional, rural and remote Queensland.

Applications are now open for Round 2. $500 million is available for eligible local governments and developers to deliver essential infrastructure projects like roads, water, sewerage, stormwater and power.

How the Scenic Rim is benefiting from a major investment in biofuel innovation

Big investments matter most when local communities feel the impact. The Office of the Coordinator‑General is bringing government agencies together to help these projects progress smoothly and give confidence to everyone involved.

That’s exactly what’s happening with the new Scenic Rim Agricultural Industrial Precinct at Kalbar. This project puts regional jobs, local farmers and energy security front and centre.

Backed by investment from Wollemi Capital and Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC), and led by local grower Kalfresh, this bioenergy and food hub is transforming farm waste that would otherwise be thrown away into clean energy and natural fertilisers.

Once up and running, the project could produce enough energy to power up to 31,000 homes and support more than 1,000 jobs during construction and operation, creating new opportunities for local workers and businesses.

We spoke to CEO Richard Gorman and Founding Director Robert Hinrichsen about how Kalfresh is working with the Queensland Government to support local jobs and long-term growth for regional Queensland. Watch the interview below or read more about how the Office of the Coordinator-General is helping create opportunities for local communities and sustainable growth in the Scenic Rim.
